Research Interests
• Soil carbon cycle                      • Anaerobic biodegradation            • Methanogenesis
• Soil Bio-mineral Interaction    • Biological mineralization             • Syntrophy
• Microbial interspecies electron transfer     • Iron oxidizing and reducing community
Highlights
•   Show the first evidence that a mineral (magnetite) may function in a manner similar to that of a cytochrome to promote microbial electron transfer.
•   Show that granular activated carbon (GAC) promotes interspecies electron transfer
providing a potential explanation for how it enhances methane production in anaerobic digesters.
•  Identify chemolithotrophic acetogenic H2/CO2 utilizes in Italian rice field soil.
•  Identify Thermoanaerobacteriaceae that oxidize acetate in methanogenic rice field soil at 50°C.
