The invention discloses a feed additive and a preparation method thereof. The feed additive is prepared by the following components in percentage by weight : 40 to 70 percent of animal protein, 10 to 20 percent of clay minerals, 0.5 to 1 percent of chitosan, 0.1 to 1 percent of trihydrate alumina and the balance accessory materials. The invention provides the feed additive and the preparation method thereof, wherein the feed additive is rich of animal protein, has no side effect on eating animal bodies and has no residual. The invention solves the problems of chemical composition residual and single nutrient content of the existing feed, is favorable for improving the environment, and can reduce the sewage discharge.
