The hydrodechlorination ( HDC) of 4-chlorophenol ( 4-CP) in aqueous phase over Raney Ni catalyst is investigated in this work. The effects of solvent, bases, temperature and catalyst quantity on the catalytic activity as well as the recycle of catalysts are explored. The results indicate that the deactivation of catalysts due to NaCl covering on the surface of the catalysts can be avoided by adding water while a rather high catalytic activity can be retained by adding alkali and triethylamine. Moreover, the catalysts exhibit good performance at 30 ℃ and the reaction rate of HDC of 4-CP increases with the increase of catalyst quantity. In addition, the catalysts suffer deactivation after three consecutive runs.
