The invention provides a method for extracting phycocyanobilin. The method includes the following steps that an alcoholic solution is added into phycocyanin powder, and shading, heating and refluxingare performed to obtain a first product; the first product is centrifuged and separated, supernatant is taken, and a second product is obtained; rotary evaporation is performed after the second product is filtered, and a third product is obtained; the third product is filtered and centrifuged, chloroform and water are added into the obtained supernatant, still standing is performed, liquid on thelower layer is collected, and the fourth product is obtained; a hydrochloric acid solution is added into the fourth product, liquid on the lower layer is collected, and a fifth product; a hydrochloricacid solution is added into the fifth product, the mixture is mixed uniformly and stands still, and a sixth product is obtained; chloroform in the sixth product is blow-dried to obtain phycocyanobilin. Compared with a method for extracting natural phycocyanobilin from spirulina, the method for extracting phycocyanobilin has a short period and a relatively simple process. Compared with a method for fermentation production of phycocyanobilin from escherichia coli expressing phycocyanobilin, the method for extracting phycocyanobilin improves the extraction efficiency of phycocyanobilin.
