The invention relates to the field of algistats, in particular to a sesquiterpenic triol compound derived from an alga epiphytic fungus, as well as a preparation method and application thereof in inhibiting microalgae. The sesquiterpenic triol compound has a concrete structural formula as shown in (I); the preparation method comprises the steps of inoculating alga epiphytic fungus Trichoderma virens Y13-3 into a fungi medium, fermenting and culturing; separating and purifying a fermentation product, thus obtaining the sesquiterpenic triol compound as shown in a formula (I). According to the sesquiterpenic triol compound obtained by the method, through a microalgae inhibiting activity experiment, the median inhibitory concentration of the compound on the microalgae can reach 0.27 microgramme/milliliter.
